There were so many foods that we tried during our stay in Indonesia—each one unfamiliar, unique, and surprisingly unforgettable. At first, many of the flavors felt different from what I was used to in the Philippines, but with every meal came a new experience, a new story, and a new memory shared with friends. From warm meals after long days of teaching to spontaneous food trips filled with laughter, I realized that food became more than just something to eat—it became a way of connecting with people and culture. Looking back, I never imagined that unfamiliar dishes would eventually feel comforting, and that simple meals shared around a table would become some of the moments I would miss the most. As I returned to the Philippines, I found myself longing not only for the taste of the food but also for the memories, conversations, and happiness that came with every bite, reminding me that sometimes, the most unforgettable journeys are tasted as much as they are lived.
